Register Now for the Urban Water Cycle Tour of Cherry Creek!

The Southeast Metro Stormwater Authority is hosting an Urban Water Cycle Bike Tour along Cherry Creek. The tour will start at 9 a.m. Friday, June 23 and finish around 1 p.m. with a delicious fried chicken lunch at the 17-mile house sponsored by SPLASH (Stormwater Permittees for Local Awareness of Stream Health), made up of Arapahoe County Stormwater discharge permit holders. 

The tour is FREE, all you need is a bike, an interest in the upper Cherry Creek watershed, and an appetite! Register HERE to join us for a fun day of learning about this very special watershed.

Meet at Challenger Regional Park (Parking lot at trail head on north side of ball fields)

Itinerary for the day!

1. Challenger Regional Park - See the work that has gone into the protection of Cherry Creek by the Town of Parker and a little history about the work along Cherry Creek that has occurred over time and things to look for.

2. 17 Mile House Creek section - Learn about the ecosystem and see some of the work finished and proposed to continue protecting the creek.

3. Cherry Creek Valley Ecological Park - Enjoy one of the more innovative ways Cherry Creek has become a welcoming amenity to people using the area.

4. Arapahoe Road Trailhead at Cherry Creek - Transforming Cherry Creek into the highly used amenity has required investment of public dollars. Learn about where the funding comes from and the benefits resulting from protecting water quality.

5. Circle back to 17 - Mile House - Fried chicken!! And, we'll learn about how the City of Centennial protects water quality and about the history of the area.

An optional shuttle back to Challenger Regional Park will be available.

Apply for the Centennial Senior Commission

The City of Centennial is currently accepting applications to fill openings on the Senior Commission.  This is an Advisory Board to City Council to foster a greater understanding of the concerns of senior citizens and their contributions, and to encourage greater senior citizen participation in community issues.  Applicants should be at least 60 years of age and residents of the City of Centennial.

All terms are for a period of two years.  Meetings are from 3 - 5 p.m. the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the City's Eagle Street facility located at 7272 South Eagle Street, Centennial, CO 80112. An application may be obtained on the City website, or from the City Clerk, 303-754-3324.  The deadline for applying is Friday, June 30, 2017 at 5 p.m.

Summer Events in Centennial Center Park

Next Saturday, June 24 the City and Arapahoe Libraries are hosting an evening full of family fun and entertainment Saturday, June 24. Local band favorite, 6 Million Dollar Band will be performing live, followed by a screening of The Librarian: Quest for the Spear (not rated). The event starts at 6 p.m. with food trucks, games and giveaways. Live music begins at 7 p.m. It's lawn seating so bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the show!

Event Schedule:
6 - 7 p.m. Games, giveaways and an opportunity to learn about the technology available at Arapahoe Libraries
7 - 8:30 p.m. Live music: 6 Million Dollar Band
8:30 - 10 p.m. Movie: "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear
